Shchuchinsky Big Ben.
The tower was originally designed in the neoclassical style, which gave it an elegant and imposing appearance. For a long time, the clock on the tower not only served to determine the time, but also served as a symbol of the city.
Over time, the building became dilapidated. It was demolished in the 1960s.
In 2007, to mark the 470th anniversary of the city, they decided to restore the facility and rebuild it on its historical site. It was built of red brick in maximum accordance with the old previously destroyed sentry. The clock tower was decorated with a weather vane.
Despite its modest size and not so long history, the townspeople love their local landmark and call it the "Shchuchinsky Big Ben."
The tower is part of Shchuchin's cultural heritage, has its own historical value and attracts the attention of tourists and locals.
The clock tower in Shchuchin is not only an architectural object, but also an important part of the city's history, reflecting its cultural heritage.
This is the original attraction of the city!
Interesting fact: there is a time capsule storage inside the tower. Every year, school graduates lay a new capsule and open the old one...
