Description
The village of Lososna, located on the western outskirts of Grodno, lost its status as an independent settlement in 2008 and was incorporated into Grodno. This change significantly affected her appearance and status. The main attraction of the village remains the ruins of a watermill built in the 19th century, which are of historical value.
Only fragments of two walls have survived from the mill building to the present day, but even from these remains it can be seen that brick and rubble stone were used during construction. The mill is located on the banks of the Lososna River, where a dam was erected in the 19th century, which served as an important engineering structure of that time. This mill was not only a significant object for the village, but also represented the industrial development of the region in those years.

Grodno. The old mill
The mill was built in the 19th century in the picturesque village of Lososna, located near Grodno. The Salmon River or Salmon River got its name from the time when salmon were found in it. However, after the construction of a hydroelectric power station on the Neman River in Kaunas, the salmon in the river disappeared. In the 19th century, Tatars lived in the village, and there was a mosque there until 1915.
The walls of the old mill and waterfalls are located just 150 meters from the bridge over the Lososyanka River in the direction of Sopotskina and the Baranovichi microdistrict. This unique object for Belarus could have become popular among tourists if more information had been known about it. Unfortunately, there are no signs to the mill and the waterfalls, and they can only be reached along the riverbank or from Rechnaya Street. The installation of signs, clearing of thickets and garbage collection could significantly increase the interest of citizens and visitors to this unusual place.
The first mills appeared in Lososyanka back in the 18th century, thanks to the efforts of the Grodno elder Anthony Tyzengauz, who sought to develop the industry and economy of the region. At different times, at least a dozen mills operated on the river, each of which played a role in providing flour and other products to local residents.
The last time flour was ground at this ancient mill was about 60 years ago. Since then, the mill has fallen into disrepair and is shrouded in silence, reminding us of the old days and the glory days of its active work. Today, these ruins preserve the centuries-old history and spirit of past eras, attracting the attention of history and architecture lovers.
