Description
Aloisa Pashkevich, known by her literary pseudonym as Tsetka, was born in the Novy Dvor estate, located near Shchuchin. This is probably why this place was chosen to erect a monument to one of the founders of Belarusian prose. The monument was designed by Ales Lipen, who is known for his portraits of many figures of Belarusian culture. The monument to Alois Pashkevich is simple, but at the same time it is noticeable that all the details here are thought out and worked out. Today, a visit to the monument "Tsetke" is included in all excursion programs in Shchuchin.

A monument to a talented writer, recognized as a classic of Belarusian literature.
The bronze monument was erected in the city center in 1991. He organically fit into the appearance of the city of Shchuchin. Literary evenings dedicated to the poetess are held in his environment. Reading the works of A. Pashkevich, one feels love for the motherland and protest against the oppression of the people. Aloisa also wrote children's stories, which are still read by many Belarusians.
Alois was born into a family of Polish gentry and at the beginning of the 20th century went to St. Petersburg to take courses for teachers, but did not complete them. In 1904, she began working as a paramedic in a hospital near Vilna and was actively engaged in propaganda activities. Pashkevich held leadership positions in the Belarusian Socialist Party and maintained ties with Lithuanian and Russian Social Democrats.
She was married to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Steponas Kairis, although rumors claimed that the marriage was fictitious. Pashkevich communicated with cultural figures of Poland and Lithuania, such as Eliza Ozheshko and Illarion Sventsitsky. In exile, she studied at the universities of Krakow and Lviv, and then remarried and moved to Belarus, where she began working in the theater and editing a magazine.
During the First World War, she became a nurse in a military hospital, but, unfortunately, in 1916, having contracted typhus after her father's funeral, she died at the age of 40.
In her small homeland in Shchuchin, it was decided to erect a beautiful bronze monument in honor of this talented writer, a classic of Belarusian literature. Tsetka, dressed in a simple elegant dress, sits on a bench and thoughtfully watches the passers-by. She seems to be thinking about the plot for her new work....
