Mstislavl. Tupichevsky Monastery.

The city of Mstislavl and its surroundings has been famous for its Christian shrines and Orthodox monasteries since the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. One of the Orthodox pearls of Mstislavl was Tupichevsky Monastery. The shrine was founded in the middle of the 17th century. It was built in several stages. And by the beginning of the 20th century, there were 4 churches on the territory of the monastery: the Church of the Holy Spirit, the Church of the Assumption, the Church of the Assumption, and the Church of St. Nicholas. There were also a number of outbuildings. In 1645, the Church of the Holy Spirit was consecrated by Bishop Sylvester Kosov. In September 1708, during the Northern War, Tsar Peter I of Moscow visited the monastery. In Soviet times, the monastery was closed and a local history museum was opened in the oldest church. The monastery suffered a lot during the last war and was finally demolished in the 1950s. And a local dairy was built on the site of the monastery. In recent years, a fragment of the 19th century brick wall, the entrance gate and 2 side chapels have been restored. Just to see the 19th century gate and chapel, you need to go left from the central passage of the dairy along the fence along the lane near the private sector on the perimeter of the factory.
