Description

The church is the architectural dominant of the historical center. It was built in 1870 in the pseudo-Russian style, which was widespread in the Russian Empire in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The church of Alexander Nevsky is the cathedral church in Mstislavl, and therefore the most important Orthodox church of this small district center. And in Mstislavl, several Orthodox shrines from the pre-revolutionary period have been preserved. As you approach the temple, you will pass through a red brick gate. In plan, the building looks like a cross, and above the middle cross is a dome on an 8-sided light drum. There are 3 rounded apses on the south side. A smaller dome is located above the multi-tiered belfry. It is worth going inside the church and inspecting the interior, where, in addition to modern icons, you will also see ancient icons dating back to the 19th century.
