The Order of the Smile, the Saber and the Winged Hussar - the Grishuk Arsenal, the only private gallery of cold steel weapons in Belarus, has been opened in the very center of Grodno
Anatoly Grishuk, an honorary citizen of Grodno, opened the museum of honor and military valor, where he shows his collection of cold steel weapons and talks about his passion for hunting and fishing.
The Grishuk Arsenal Museum has occupied several rooms on the second floor at 11 Karl Marx Street, next to the hostel. At the entrance, guests are greeted by a knight with a spear and shield. Above it hangs the head of St. Hubert's stag with a golden cross between its horns.
The museum is small and homely, with only three rooms. Anatoly Grishuk has been collecting exhibits all his life and decided to show the collection to Grodno residents and guests of the city. There are swords, cleavers, sabers, broadswords, swords, bayonet knives... there is a whole story and fate behind each item.
A special pride is the stand of the Olympic champions of Grodno region. The originals of the Olympic gold and silver medals of the most powerful man on the planet, Alexander Kurlovich.
Most of the swords and sabers of the armies of different countries of the world are represented. They are mostly ceremonial, they were worn as an attribute of the appearance of military and civilian persons. It's the same with a sword cane - respectable townspeople didn't go out without it.
The museum is rounded off by a room dedicated to some of the founder's other hobbies. Anatoly Grishuk is an avid hunter, fisherman and mushroom picker and decided to tell about his preferences.
In the courtyard of the museum there is the largest mural in Grodno, wooden figures of horses on which you can climb and take photos. The site for the mural was the wall of the building in the courtyard of Karl Marx Street, 11. The area of the "canvas" is 435 sq. m.
The history of Grodno in this work is presented through hunting scenes. Here you can find references to many classic subjects and famous paintings. The famous sights of Grodno are also depicted here: the ancient Kolozha, the Old and New Castle, the cozy courtyards of the city center, the fire tower. So it will be interesting for both city residents and tourists to study the mural.
Grishuk Arsenal Museum 11 Karl Marx Street is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Make an appointment for the tour +375445219804
