Description

The Eliza Ozheshko House Museum in Grodno is a place dedicated to the life and work of the famous Polish writer Eliza Ozheshko. She was born in 1841 and became one of the most significant figures in Polish literature of the 19th century. Eliza Ozheshko is equally revered both in Poland and in Belarus. She is the author of the famous works "Over the Neman" and "Ham". E.Ozheshko was born near the city of Grodno, and spent the last 16 years of her life here. The Eliza Ozheshko House Museum in Grodno is an architectural monument that is an exact copy of the house of the famous writer.

A place dedicated to the life and work of the famous writer Eliza Ozheshko.

A small museum is located in the house where Eliza Ozheshko spent part of her life. This building is an architectural monument and is an example of the style typical of that time. The museum tells its visitors about the life and fate of Eliza Ozhashko.

Inside the museum there are personal belongings of the writer, her manuscripts, photographs, as well as household items that help create an atmosphere of the era. Visitors can explore materials related to the literary activities and public position of Eliza Ozheshko. She was not only a writer, but also a public figure who actively advocated for women's rights and social reforms. Eliza Ozheshko's creativity and ideas continue to inspire many people. 

 The museum's expositions present visitors with a study and a small salon, where Ozheshko rested by the fireplace and received guests. The interiors of these rooms have been recreated from preserved photographs. They are furnished with furniture and objects from the era of Eliza Ozheshko. Among the original items here are a fireplace and a mirror, herbariums made by Ozheshko herself, lifetime photos and books by the writer, as well as original wooden objects and furniture elements. In March 2009, after the reconstruction of the entire house, the rooms were reopened to the public.

The museum actively hosts various cultural events, such as literary evenings and exhibitions, which makes it an important center of the cultural life of the city.

A visit to the Eliza Ozheshko House Museum is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the 19th century and learn more about the life and work of one of the brightest personalities of Polish literature.
