Grodno. Karl Marx Street number 4

In the city of Grodno, behind the Church of Francis Xavier, there is a small two-story building at No. 4.The house is angular and built at the intersection with Gorodnichanskaya Street. The monument is very ancient and is part of the former Jesuit collegium of the 17th - 18th century.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Savitskys, relatives of the writer Zoska Veras (1892-1991), lived in this house. The apartment of the writer's grandparents was here, and Zoska herself went to study across the street at the Barkovskaya private girls' gymnasium. In 1909-1913, Veras took an active part in the work of the Grodno Circle of Belarusian Youth. The writer described this interesting period of her life in her memoirs.

After the Peace of Riga in 1921, when Grodno passed to the Polish state, a cinema began operating in the building. After the arrival of Soviet power in the period from 1939 to 1941, a cinema called "KIM" also operated.

After the Great Patriotic War, from the autumn of 1944 until the 1960s, the railway workers' club was located in the house. The builders' club has been operating since 1957.

In 1991, the restoration of the monument began, which ended in 2001. The monument was restored and reconstructed. The building was transferred to the Catholic Church and the Curia of the Grodno Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church is located here.
