The only operating water mill in Belarus.

The water mill in Zhodishki is a small rectangular building with a stone foundation, standing in a lowland near the Palavoika River.

It is known that since 1951 the mill belonged to the local collective farm. However, after the electricity was installed in the collective farm, the water mill was not in demand and was not used in any way until 1996. In 1997, interest in it was awakened and it was restored thanks to the efforts of a local entrepreneur. Even the wooden wheel with a diameter of 4 meters, with which grain was ground into flour at the end of the 19th century, was restored. The old stone millstones were also preserved. Today, with their help and with the help of water, grain is still ground here.

The watermill building houses an ethnographic museum and a museum of grain and bread on three floors. Here you can see a watermill in action, watching the wooden wheel rotate from the water, and how flour pours from the millstones into sacks. You can also explore various exhibits dedicated to grain and bread.

In addition, visitors have a chance to get acquainted with pottery, blacksmithing, woodworking devices, as well as a weaving loom, which are presented here in the exhibition. Surprisingly, most of the exhibits are in good condition and can be used if desired. Museum visitors can try to grind grain or make a clay pot, weave cloth on a loom.

A visit to this museum makes a wonderful impression, leaving no one indifferent. Thanks to it, we get a unique opportunity to touch the centuries-old traditions of the Belarusian people and feel the spirit of a bygone time. This is a unique and unexpectedly beautiful place. There is a very beautiful area near the mill and a waterfall near the dam.
