Grodno kunstkamera.
The Kunstkamera houses more than 200 unique exhibitions of anatomical and teratological collections. There are two halls here: the hall of normal human anatomy and the hall of paranormal anatomy. In the first hall, visitors are invited to look at healthy human organs and lungs of a smoker or the liver of an alcoholic, as well as the liver of an obese person. The second hall contains exhibits with deviations from the normal development of the human embryo.
The creators of the museum claim that most of these Siamese twins, two-headed babies and other babies with disabilities were born due to the fact that their parents led an unhealthy lifestyle. In addition to all possible forms of Siamese twins, among the exhibits you can see anencephalians, "mermaid children". The uniqueness of the collection lies in the fact that it is almost impossible to obtain such exhibits today. Nowadays, such abnormal manifestations are rare, partly due to the high level of development of the medical industry. The development of some changes in the normal structures of the human body does not have an exact cause, but often these factors are: alcohol, nicotine, drugs, heavy metals and radiation.
This museum has unique guides, which few other museums can boast of. They are all professors, associate professors, and university professors who will scientifically explain why such anomalies can occur in a human fetus and what should not be done to prevent a baby from being born with developmental disabilities.
The collection is open for both individual and group visits. There are restrictions for visiting the Kunstkamera : the visitor must be at least 16 years old.
The anatomical museum has several modern and expensive devices that make the process of studying anatomy and viewing exhibits as visual and exciting as possible. First of all, this is the Anatomage virtual anatomical table. In 3D projection, it allows you to study the structure of the human body in layers and is aimed at finding solutions in the case of complex surgical procedures. An interactive multiboard also helps viewing exhibits. Each exhibit will be removed from the solution and placed on a special 3D stereoscopic table and filmed so that visitors to the virtual exhibition can examine it in detail. The exhibits will be accompanied by a description in Russian and English. The virtual exhibition will be available on the university's website.
There is a legend that the first autopsy of the body of King Stefan Batory of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was conducted here, but this fact has not been confirmed.
A visit to the Kunstkamera in Grodno will be interesting for people interested in medicine, but with the right preliminary conversation, it will not be superfluous to take your older children there. To tell and visually show what the use of alcohol, drugs and nicotine can lead to.
