Grodno. Karl Marx Street. The Ioffe House.
In Grodno, on Karl Marx Street (bld. number 9), there is an old building known as the Ioffe House. The building was built during the Russian Empire in 1904 in the eclectic style.
The house is stone, two-storied, plastered. On the second floor there is a decorative finish. In the center there is a balcony made of cast iron. An arched passage has been preserved on the left side of the building.
For a long time, this house was owned by the freelance dentist Joffe. Hence the name of this monument, as the Ioffe House. Then the owner here was Michel Serebryany.
During the time of the Polish state in 1928, the building housed Isak Strasberg's feather shop and Eidel Schnitkes's hat shop.
After the Great Patriotic War, an organization called ORS Oblstroytrest was located here. In 1970, the 'Crystal' store. Since 1984, a carpet store called "Carpets" was opened, where products from the carpet factory from Brest were sold.
There are now several shops and a hairdresser in the building.
