Grodno. Valun's house.
On Karl Marx Street (number 14) in the historical center of Grodno there is an architectural monument, which is known as the Ovsey Valun House. The building has the status of historical and cultural value. The monument was erected during the time of the Russian Empire in 1898 in the eclectic style.
The building is stone, two-storied, plastered. There is an arched passage in the center. The front facade has a shaped pediment in the center. On the side facade there is the date of construction of this house - "1898".
At the beginning of the 20th century, in 1903, the 'Anchor' society, which was engaged in insurance activities, worked in the building. The 'Hope' insurance agency was also located here. The 'Kovensky' hotel had its own apartments.
After the Peace of Riga was concluded in 1921, Grodno came under the rule of the Polish Republic until 1939. At that time, in 1928, the house housed Isaac Krupnik's meat store. There was also a barber shop, where Lazarus Cherny was the owner.
Currently, the building houses a wedding salon and residential apartments.
