Grodno. Trop's house.

In Grodno, on Karl Marx Street (house number 20), an architectural monument of the 19th century has been preserved, which is known as the Trop's House. The building was built during the Russian Empire in 1886. At that time, Karl Marx Street was called Kupecheskaya (Merchant's) Street. There were many shops, houses of artisans and merchants on the street.

At first, the house was owned by Yosel Trop. And later Ida Trop became the owner of the property. The headquarters of the 104th Infantry Regiment worked in the house in 1894. The regiment was called Ustyuzhsky. There was also parish college. The college had a female seminary in 1911. After the revolution, in 1919, there was a consumer store owned by Benjamin Hasin.

After the Soviet–Polish war and the Peace of Riga in 1921, Grodno passed to Poland by 1939 before the arrival of Soviet power. In 1923, the front facade of the building facing the street had two floors and an attic. There was a shoemaker's workshop and a tailor's workshop in the house. In the early 1930s, the building was bought by N. Starovolsky. He rebuilt this house to meet the needs of the Starovolsky's 'Neman' factory, which produced bicycles and motorcycles. The house was rebuilt in the "Gdansk style".

In recent years, the monument has been restored. It has historical and cultural value.
