Vitebsk. Dukhovskoy Kruglik.

During the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the city of Vitebsk was very well fortified and had as many as three castles. In the area where the amphitheater, the main venue of the Slavyansky Bazar festival, is now located, there was once a Lower Castle, which was built in the 14th century. Each of the towers of the castle fortifications had its own name. During archaeological excavations in 1984, the foundations of the tower were discovered, which was called at different times in different ways: Narozhnaya, Uglovaya, and Naugolnaya, and in later times they were called Dukhovskoy Kruglik.

A small part of the authentic 14th-century tower has survived to our time. But when studying the artifacts found, historians came to the conclusion that the walls of the tower were stone, and the dimensions were 8 by 6 meters. The approximate height of the tower reached 13 meters. In 2007, an artistic reconstruction of the tower was carried out with the help of architect Ruslan Lyadenko. The tower has 5 levels, on which there is an exposition telling about the history of the city of Vitebsk and the International Slavic Bazaar Festival. The modern museum tower measures 9 by 9 meters and is 27 meters high.
