Vitebsk. Sculpture "Old Man Hottabych".

  The monument to Hottabych was installed in Vitebsk for a reason: in 1903, the author of the work Lazar Lagin (Ginzburg) was born here and his family lived near the place where the monument is now installed. In 1938, he wrote the famous "Old Man Hottabych", which became a favorite book of many children.

The monument is located in the central part of Vitebsk opposite the Lyalka Puppet Theater, which makes it accessible to a wide audience. The sculpture is made of bronze and depicts Hottabych in a characteristic pose, with a smile on his face and a vest full of magical attributes. The statue is 1.8 meters high and depicts a genie holding a man with a camel in his palms. Residents of the city claim that if you rub the old man's jug and make a wish, it will definitely come true.    

The monument has become not only a tourist attraction, but also a place for photo shoots, as well as cultural events. It attracts both locals and visitors of the city, because it symbolizes important themes of friendship, mutual assistance and miracles. At this place, many people recall their childhood experiences related to reading a book or watching a movie.  

The monument is also actively used for educational purposes — its history is often discussed in literature lessons. Thus, the monument to Hottabych in Vitebsk is not just an architectural find, but an important part of the cultural dialogue and memory of the literary heritage.
