Vitebsk. Art museum.

The building of the Art Museum was built in 1883 in the style of late classicism according to the project of the architect I. Kaminsky in the historical center. At first, the Vitebsk District Court was located in the building. Right across the street from the court stood the majestic architectural complex of St. Nicholas' Church, a former Jesuit church and a monastery (it has not survived to our time, and now there is a parking lot.) After the revolution, the Vitebsk Military Revolutionary Committee was located here, then the Palace of Labor and the Provincial Council of Trade Unions. and a little later Vitebsk Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus. The art museum was created already in the years of independence of the Republic of Belarus in February 1992. In addition to the collection of paintings, there is also a collection of European and Russian porcelain and earthenware of the 18th and early 20th centuries, embroidery by Belarusian masters of the 19th century, tableware from Belarusian manufactories of the 18th century. The museum's collections include works by famous Belarusian and foreign artists: Ivan Khrutskyi, Vitold Byalynitskyi-Birulya, Zair Azgur, Yudel Pen, Sergei Zaranka, Ilya Repin, Ivan Shishkin, Ivan Kramskoi, Arkhip Kuindzhi and many others. The museum has a restoration workshop. The museum hosts exhibitions and creative meetings.
