Ruins of the synagogue in Kobrin.

According to historical data, the synagogue was built in the second half of the 19th century, earlier than the Catholic church and many churches in Kobrin.

It is known that until 1941, more than half of the city's population were Jews. There were 7 functioning synagogues, special schools for Jews were opened with instruction in Yiddish and Hebrew.

However, during the war, the fascists drove the entire Jewish population here from all the surrounding districts. They shot people near the walls of the synagogue. This synagogue is the only one of the seven synagogues that survived the war. Unfortunately, after the war, it never became operational. The authorities took away valuable property and ordered the synagogue to be closed.

In the 80s, a workshop for the production of beer and soft drinks of the Kobrin canning factory was temporarily organized here.

Since the late 1980s, the building has ceased to be used and has increasingly fallen into disrepair and ruin.

The Jewish religious community of Kobrin tried to deal with the issues of synagogue restoration. However, due to the high cost of restoration work, the project remains unrealized. Sponsors are needed for the reconstruction.
