The main attraction of Parokhonsk is the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1888, which is a striking example of wooden architecture.
Parokhonsk is an agro–town located in the Pinsk district of the Brest region, which is the administrative center of the village council of the same name. It is located 34 km northeast of Pinsk and 210 km east of Brest.
The history of Parokhonsk is connected with the princes of Zilemsky (XV-XVII centuries), who were replaced by the Radziwills.
In the 18th century, the estate passed to Prince Franciszek Drutsky-Lyubetsky, who also owned estates in Pogost-Zagorodsk and Lunin. Later, the village belonged to Geranim, then to Edwin Caesar (before the First World War) and Francis Caesar.
The main attraction of Parokhonsk is the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built of wood in 1888. The Parokhon Church is a striking example of wooden architecture. It is a monument of the retrospective Russian style.
The church is a rectangular structure with a four-sided apse. It has a three-part log structure consisting of a vestibule, a prayer hall and a rectangular apse. The main cubic volume is covered by a four-pitched roof, above which rises a drum with an onion dome. Above the lobby is an octagonal bell tower with a spire. The walls, lined with boards, are decorated with decorative elements imitating stone architecture.
There is also a Protestant church in Parokhonsk, built in the 1990s in an eclectic style with elements of Gothic and Art Nouveau.
