Afonya the plumber.

In Brest, at the intersection of Gogol and Kuibyshev streets, next to the janitor's sculpture, a new sculptural composition dedicated to the plumbing profession has appeared. The opening of the art object took place on July 28 and became one of the highlights of the celebration of the 999th anniversary of the city. The plumber, whom the townspeople immediately affectionately nicknamed Athos, became a gift from the Brestvodokanal enterprise, emphasizing the importance of the work of housing and communal services workers.

The sculpture is a collective image of all the workers in the housing and communal services sector, who daily do everything possible to provide Brest residents with high-quality water, heat and maintain a favorable environmental situation in the city. Afonya is depicted with work equipment in his hands, which symbolizes his professionalism and dedication to his work. This art object not only decorates the city, but also reminds of the invisible, but so important work of public utilities.

The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests: Chairman of the Brest City Executive Committee Alexander Rogachuk, General Director of the city Housing and Communal Services Igor Silchenko, Director of Brestvodokanal Andrey Prolisko, as well as numerous residents and guests of the city. The event was held in a warm and festive atmosphere, emphasizing the importance of the event for Brest.

The new art object has taken its rightful place on the famous Gogol Alley of Lanterns, becoming part of the city's tradition of installing sculptures for City Day. Now Athos stands side by side with other symbols of Brest, reminding that even the most ordinary professions deserve respect and attention. This project not only beautifies the urban space, but also inspires citizens to take care of the work of those who make their lives more comfortable.

A street in the central part of the city, on which there is an alley of various wrought-iron lanterns. The compositions of the lanterns are unique - there are no others like them in the world.

The Alley of Lanterns was created in 2013 as part of city initiatives to beautify and improve public spaces. The project was implemented in order to create a comfortable place for walking, relaxing and socializing, where everyone can enjoy the beauty of the city. The idea of creating an alley belongs to the city mayor. There are lanterns of large commercial and industrial organizations of the city that responded to this offer. All sculptural compositions of lanterns are unique, there are no others like them in the world.

The lanterns installed along the alley are made in various styles — from classical to modern. Here you can sit on a bench and "clean shoes" at the Cleaner, "treat yourself to pretzels" at the hawker from the network "Foodstuffs" or "taste treats" from the Russian stove. Some of the lanterns here are dedicated to literary works: "The Little Prince" and his Rose, "The Nose" in general's garb, the devil with the stolen month from "The Night before Christmas", Homa Brutus with bats from "Viya". You can also see a three-piece bird with the quote "And what kind of Russian does not like fast driving".

These wrought-iron masterpieces add uniqueness and charm to the street. At night, the lanterns illuminate the path with a soft light, creating a romantic atmosphere, ideal for walking with loved ones or friends.

The Alley of Lanterns also becomes a platform for various cultural events, exhibitions and celebrations. Concerts, fairs and festivals are often held here, which attract the attention of a wide audience.

The Alley of Lanterns in Brest is not just a street, but a real symbol of the city, which reflects its atmosphere and spirit. It is a place where history meets modernity, and where everyone can find a place to relax and be inspired.

If you find yourself in Brest, do not miss the opportunity to walk along this romantic alley, enjoy its beauty and recharge your batteries! It is also a great place for unusual and beautiful photos.
