The Museum of the History of the city tells us about the history of the city of Brest at different stages of its development. It is located in a building that is an architectural monument included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus.

At the entrance to the museum, visitors are greeted by a cozy hall decorated in the style of the early 20th century. On the walls there are old photographs of the city of Brest, depicting its architecture and the life of the townspeople. Here visitors can see how the appearance of the city has changed over the centuries from the very first mention.

The Museum of the History of the city of Brest immerses visitors in the rich history of this city.

The exhibits of the museum are located on two floors, in four halls with different themes. It shows the history of the ancient East Slavic Birch Bark, located on the island where the Brest Fortress now stands. The process of formation of the city of Brest-Litovsk, transferred to the territory of the Kobrin forstadt during the construction of the fortress, the history of the city during the period when it was under Polish rule and was called Brest-nad-Bug is also considered. The exposition touches on the severe military trials that befell the city during the Great Patriotic War, and its post-war life.

One of the most impressive exhibits is the layout of the old Brest. In this layout, you can see how the streets, buildings and even the fortress, which played an important role in the history of the city, looked like. The layout is made with great care, and each element conveys the atmosphere of that time. One of the important exhibits is also the central and unifying element of the museum's exposition - a map of Brest, reflecting its development over time.

Next to the layout there is a showcase in which artifacts found during archaeological excavations are stored. Here you can see an extensive collection of weapons, military uniforms of those times, models of the restored city of Berestye and archaeological excavations in the area of the Brest fortress, various important historical documents and photographs, antique postcards with images of Brest, antique furniture, interior and household items, ancient first-printed books and much more. Many exhibits are real rarities, for example, a treasure trove of coins minted at the Brest Mint in the second half of the 17th century, unique clocks of ancient times, objects of the architectural complex of the Bernardine monasteries, tiles of the 16th century found during archaeological excavations on the territory of the Brest Castle.

One of the most significant exhibits is the publication of the Brest Bible. The museum also houses an authentic Birch Bark Bible. This unique edition is carefully protected in the museum fund and is exhibited only on special occasions.

The Museum of the History of the city of Brest is a place where everyone can touch the history, learn about the fates of people and the events that shaped this amazing city. The exhibits make the museum not only an educational, but also an inspiring place for anyone who wants to learn more about Brest and its rich heritage.
