Description

The Museum of Local Lore is located in the center of Verkhnedvinsk on Leningradskaya Street in an old mansion.
The Art Nouveau building was built before the revolution, at the end of the 19th century. It was reconstructed in 2012-2015. Previously, the district court was located in the one-story brick building of the museum. Until 1917, the building belonged to a well-known shoe manufacturer throughout Europe. Since 2015, the Verkhnedvinsk Museum of Local Lore has been located here.

The Museum of Local Lore in Verkhnedvinsk.

The Museum of Local Lore in Verkhnedvinsk opened its doors in 2015, becoming an important cultural and educational platform for local residents and visitors of the city.

The museum is located in a historic former courthouse built at the end of the 19th century, which in itself is a valuable architectural object. A famous Jewish shoe manufacturer and his family once lived and worked here, which adds a special atmosphere and historical significance to this place.

Today, the museum has two exhibition halls where visitors can take an exciting virtual trip along the Drissa River. This trip covers 12 berths, each of which tells about significant settlements and historical sites associated with the region. This approach allows for a deeper understanding of the history and culture of Verkhnedvinsk and its surroundings.

The museum's collection includes more than 5,000 exhibits, including archaeological finds, artifacts related to the war of 1812 and the Great Patriotic War, as well as documents about local heroes.

Prominent personalities associated with Verkhnedvinsk include Nadezhda Troyan, a well-known Soviet underground worker, as well as geographer Ivan Chersky and the head of the BSSR, Peter Masherov, who were born in the area.

The museum constantly hosts guided tours, exhibitions, as well as a number of other events related to the history of the city.

The Museum of Local Lore in Verkhnedvinsk is not only a repository of historical memory, but also a place where everyone can learn more about the rich heritage of their region.
