Tumelsky spring.

In a picturesque tract on the left bank of the Usha River, among alder bushes and willow trees, there is an amazing spring with a rich history and healing water. Tumelsky spring is not just a hydrological natural monument of local importance, but a place where history, poetry and folk faith are intertwined.

The spring got its name from the Tumel farm with a watermill, which existed here until the 1960s. Today, only the stone foundation remains of that manor, but the memory of the past is alive.

The special value of this place is attached to the connection with the name of Yakub Kolas. In 1906, the great Belarusian poet worked as a teacher in the neighboring village of Verkhmen. He often came to this spring, drank the cold water and rested in the shade of the trees. It is believed that it was the memories of the Tumel stream that inspired Kolas to create the poem "The Stream": "Among the alder bushes, where the nightingale sings, and the silver-tipped stream roars and thunders".

Later, these picturesque places, including the Usha River, were praised by the poet in the famous trilogy "Na rostanyakh" (At the crossroads).

The spring is a crenopolis, a group of springs that come to the surface in the lower part of the slope of a moraine hill. The flow rate of the source is 4 liters per second. The water always remains clear and icy, even in the summer heat.

Chemical analyses conducted in Belarus and Germany confirmed the unique composition of the water: it lacks iron and nitrates, but silver, gold and fluorine were found. That is why water is stored for a long time without losing its freshness and taste.

In 2008, the spring was awarded the status of a hydrological natural monument of local importance with a protected area of 0.01 hectares. In 2018, through the efforts of parishioners, benefactors and patrons, the spring was improved.:

· convenient parking is provided;

· there is a pedestrian path with stairs and handrails;

· there is a large gazebo for relaxation;

· A wooden shelter was built over a concrete collector ring.

On Holy Week 2018, Bishop Veniamin of Borisov and Maryinogorsk consecrated the font in honor of the Holy Archangel Michael, and the spring itself in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Life-giving Spring".

Today, this place has become a popular recreation area for locals and tourists. Regional tours are regularly held here, and travelers stop to take a few sips of healing water and enjoy the silence of this fertile corner of the Belarusian nature.
