Description
Just 40 kilometers from Minsk, in the direction of Smolevichi, there is a unique place – Smolewood. This is a huge full-scale site of Belarusfilm, where almost all domestic films about the war and the partisans were shot. Founded in 1971, today it covers 90 hectares and includes not only carefully recreated trenches, dugouts and village huts with German signs, but also picturesque meadows, forests, lakes and even an abandoned quarry resembling the taiga landscape. A narrow-gauge railway is still in use here.
In Smolewood, you can feel like you're in an abandoned village affected by a disaster. The decorations of the village houses and other buildings create a unique atmosphere, and the nature around them is no less impressive, making a walk through this place unforgettable.

The full-scale site of the Belarusfilm film studio.
Smolewood is the unofficial name given to the on–site location of Belarusfilm film studio, located in Smolevichi district of Minsk region. The name is formed from a combination of the words "Smolevichi" and "Hollywood".
The creation of this outdoor filming site was initiated in 1971 by Peter Masherov, who was then the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. It is located near the village of Kamenka, Smolevichi district, about 40 kilometers from Minsk and 5 kilometers from the city of Smolevichi.
Smolewood's territory covers from 80 to 90 hectares. The natural landscape here is diverse: coniferous and deciduous forests give way to meadows, fields and reservoirs, including two lakes. Decorations have been erected on the site, including residential buildings and outbuildings, dugouts, dugouts, an observation tower and trenches.
The decorations are installed on an ongoing basis. Production buildings and storage facilities are available to support the filming process. There is also a narrow-gauge railway located here, which is sometimes used in filming.
It is known that more than 400 films, both Belarusian and foreign, were shot in Smolewood.
In addition to film production, the outdoor playground also serves as a venue for motocross championships, and is also used for paintball, airsoft, and laser tag games.
