Stakhovo. Church of the Intercession.
In Stolin district there is a place called Stakhovo, 30 kilometers from the district center. Stakhovo was first mentioned in historical documents from the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1503.
A wooden Orthodox church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos has been built in the center of the village. The temple was built in 1857 during the time of the Russian Empire. In 1885, a large fire broke out and the temple was destroyed. The following year, in 1886, a new building of the shrine was built-a two-domed temple with a bell tower. The church was built at the expense of the parish and cost about 6 thousand rubles.
In 1907, the church was rebuilt and renovated. Since 1910, a parish school has been founded at the church. The church has never been closed since its construction. The shrine also worked in Soviet times.
The church was built in a pseudo-Russian style. The building consists of four main parts: the vestibule, the refectory, the prayer hall and the apse. A bell tower is built over the vestibule. The main volume is covered by a four-pitched roof with an octagonal drum and an onion dome.
The interior contains ancient 18th-century icons of great artistic value: "The Tomb of the Virgin", "Our Lady of Tenderness", "The Savior Pantokrator" and "St. Nicholas". The church has been renovated in recent years.
