Mikashevichi. The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Mikashevichi is located on Korzha Square. Previously, none of the residents of the city could have imagined that this old building, which once housed a kindergarten and storage facilities, would ever become a Catholic church.

Several decades ago, religious organizations in Mikashevichi were persecuted. The authorities have closed both the church on Leninskaya Street and the Orthodox church located next door. The church first housed a cultural center, and then a furniture store.

Many years later, after numerous requests and petitions, the church was never returned to its former owners. However, according to the decision of the district and city authorities, the building was allocated for the church. At that time, Catholics were actively collecting signatures. Having no church of their own, they held divine services in the homes and apartments of parishioners. The Parafia was registered in 1999, and the building was acquired in 2003.

The restoration of the church was carried out on the personal initiative of the Catholics. A lot of efforts and funds were invested in the reconstruction of the church. The interior has undergone changes: columns, benches, statues, crosses, and images of saints have appeared on the walls.

It was only thanks to the efforts and patience of the Catholics of Mikashevichi that the temple began its activity. Each of them has made their own contribution. Since then, they have been happy to attend festive masses and thank the Blessed Virgin Mary in their prayers.

Over the past 15 years, several priests have been replaced here, coming from Lelchitsy, Zhitkovichi and even Italy.

Currently, this functioning temple is a landmark of Mikashevichi.
