Description

The Holy Cross Chapel is located in the center of the village of Lenin, on the territory of the Orthodox cemetery. Holy Cross Chapel in the agro-town of Lenin.

The architectural style of the chapel can be described as retrospectively Russian, with its characteristic four bulbous domes surrounding the central dome.

The possibility of moving the Holy Cross Chapel to the Museum of Folk Architecture and Everyday Life was considered, but this project was never implemented. The transfer of the chapel to the museum near Minsk was refused due to fears that it would not withstand transportation. Over time, the condition of the monument deteriorated, and it was decided to reconstruct it. It is possible to judge the success of this alteration by the available photographs.

The Holy Cross Chapel, dating back to 1871 and also built in memory of the abolition of serfdom, is going through hard times today. Like its predecessor, it stands out among the Polessky architecture for its similarity to stone temples. The four bulbous domes surrounding the central dome are typical elements of the retrospective Russian style.

A replica of this building adorns the central square of the city of Zhitkovichi.
