Description
The small town of Olgomel in Stolin district is known for its two temples. The wooden Church of the Resurrection of Christ and the new stone Mary Magdalene. The wooden temple was built in the early 19th century in the traditions of Polessky folk wooden architecture and consists of three main parts. The interior has an iconostasis and icons from the 17th – 19th centuries, which apparently remained from the old church of the period of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The Church of the Resurrection of Christ is now rarely used for worship, as a new stone church was recently built nearby.

Olgomel. Church of the Resurrection of Christ.
A wooden Orthodox Church of the Resurrection of Christ has been built in the village of Olgomel, Stolin district. The temple was built in 1817 at the expense of the local landowner Roman Faister. The shrine is built according to the tradition of Polesie wooden folk architecture and consists of three main parts: a vestibule, a prayer hall and an apse.
The main volume of the prayer hall is made of a four-walled log house. A vestibule has been added from the western part of the prayer hall, above which a bell tower has been built. Above the bell tower is a four-pitched roof with a small faceted drum and an onion. The main volume is covered with a gable roof and is completed with an octagonal drum with an onion.
The interior has a three-tiered carved wooden iconostasis of the 18th century, which apparently remained from the old church of the era of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
Twelve icons of the so-called Apostol order have been preserved in the iconostasis. The icons "Saved with the Primates", "Blagovest" from 1759, "Mother of God Odigitria" and others are of the Deisical order. There are also more ancient icons that apparently belonged to the Uniate Church: "Descent into Hell" of the 17th century, "Basil the Great", "Mother of God Odigitria", "Trinity of the Old Testament" and "Deisus" of the 18th century. The church is rarely used now, as it is already old and the temple is attributed to the modern stone church of Mary Magdalene.
