Lyadets. St. George the Victorious Church.
In Stolin district, on the road north in the direction of David–Gorodok, there is the vollage of Lyadets. A wooden Orthodox church of St. George was built in the middle of the village.
The name of the place has its roots from the word "Lyady ", which Belarusians call the place where the forest was cut down.
In the 19th century, the town belonged to the Radziwill princes and was part of their estate in David–Gorodok. After the Peace of Riga in 1921, the town was part of the Polish state. Since 1939, it has been a part of Soviet Belarus.
St. George's Church was built in 1869 with funds and donations from parishioners. There were two ministers at the church: a psalmist and a priest. There was 43 tithes of land attached to the church. The house for the priest was built in 1904. There were three parish schools attached to the church. The parish consisted of five nearby villages. The church has always worked and has never been closed since its construction: neither during the war, nor during the years of the USSR.
Major repairs were carried out in 2015, after which the church was consecrated by Archbishop Stefan of Pinsk and Luninets on August 27.
The church building has four main parts: the vestibule, the refectory, the prayer hall and the apse. A bell tower is built over the vestibule. The main volume is covered with a four-pitched roof and is completed with an octagonal drum with an onion.
