Description
Berezhnoye, Stolin district, is known for its Olesha family estate, which has been owned here for several centuries. The famous Soviet writer Yuri Olesha (1899-1960), who wrote the famous fairy tale "The Three Fat Men", comes from this family. In the village of Berezhnoye itself, you need to drive to the neighboring small village of Novo–Berezhnoye, where there is a stone two-story palace among the old park. At the end of the 18th century, a one-story palace was built, which was destroyed during the First World War. The park, the two-storey palace and several outbuildings have been preserved to our time. The estate is in a neglected state.

Berezhnoye. Olesha Manor.
The Olesha family estate has been preserved in the Stolin district. To get there, you need to go along the Stolin – David–Gorodok highway to the village of Berezhnoye. From Berezhnoye turn to the village of Novo-Berezhnoye and drive a little along a good road from the left you will see an ancient park among which is the stone Olesha palace with outbuildings.
The Olesha family originates from Alexander, a boyar from Volhynia, who was nicknamed "Olesha". His descendant Peter Olesha in 1508 received from Prince Fyodor Yaroslavich an estate in the town of Berezhnoye. A little later, in 1524, Queen Bona Sforza signed a document that confirmed Peter Olesha's rights to Berezhnoye and two other villages. Gradually, the Olesha family acquired new lands, estates and possessions throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.
The last owner of the Novo- (New) and Staro- (Old) Berezhnoye was Caesar Anthony Olesha (1820-1892), who was married to Alexandra Orda. They had 11 children. His son Konstantin inherited Novo-Berezhnoye. Vladislav Olesha, the youngest son, who owned Staro-Berezhnoye, sold the family estate to the Radziwills in 1909.
From this family comes the famous Soviet writer Yuri Karlovich Olesha (1899-1960), whom we know well from his work "Three Fat Men".
The old one–story palace was built at the turn of the 18th - 19th centuries in the classical style. The building was destroyed during the First World War. The new stone two-storey palace was built at the end of the 19th century. This building has survived to our time. After the war, the palace had residential apartments. The building is now in a neglected state. There is a large park around the palace, which was laid out in the English style.
There is a cultural center in Berezhnoye, where a small museum with an exposition has been built at the local library. In the museum, where a lot of interesting information and exhibits about Olesha's estate are collected, you can book an excursion from the staff.
