Yazvinki. Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior.
In the village of Yazvinki, which is located near the town of Luninets, there is a wooden Orthodox church, which was consecrated as the Transfiguration of the Savior.
The first temple, which according to the document has come down to us in Yazvinki, was built during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1759 at the expense of Ivan Shchit. It was located in the center of the village on the site of an older temple. The church, most likely, belonged first to Uniate believers, and then was transferred to the Orthodox.
The building had the shape of a cross with two domes. The roof is covered with shingles. Major repairs were carried out in 1870. The temple area was 40 square fathoms. In 1873, a new carved iconostasis was installed.
The bell tower was built separately from the temple. The old church was dismantled in 1909, as the building fell into disrepair.
In 1910, a new wooden church was built, which was consecrated in December. The building was designed by Viktor Struyev, an architect from Minsk, and the iconostasis was brought from the Kiev Pechersk Lavra for 700 rubles.
In Soviet times, the temple worked.
In 1999, a boiler was installed in the building to heat the room, and in 2007 steam heating was installed.
The church is a monument of folk wooden architecture. The building consists of 4 main parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and an apse. There is a multi-tiered bell tower above the vestibule.
