Description
The Mogilev region, alas, does not have such a rich heritage of architectural monuments, and, unfortunately, many of them are in poor condition today. However, even in these ruins, there is a certain mesmerizing beauty, like an echo of former greatness. One of these places, of course, is the abandoned Orthodox church in the quiet village of Koltovo, which is only 13 kilometers from ancient Mstislavl. Shrouded in the mysteries of the past, this temple is like a magnet that attracts travelers eager to touch the history.

Ruins of a 19th-century church.
To get to the ruins of this unnamed 19th-century church, you need to turn off at the village of Pirogovo and from there you will only have to drive a few minutes along a scenic road. The abandoned church stands right by the road, so it is simply impossible to drive past it. It's like she's waiting for her visitors to tell them her story.
Unfortunately, there is practically no information about the temple. It is only known that it was built in the 19th century on the site of a previously existing wooden temple, which testifies to the long-standing spiritual history of this place. Undoubtedly, the temple played an important role in the spiritual and cultural life of the surrounding lands, being a center of attraction for believers and a witness to significant historical events.
The church was built of red brick and plastered. If you look closely, you can see that the elegant decorative arches have been preserved on the main facade, and the corners of the building are decorated with elegant false columns. The architectural solutions of the temple clearly bear the features of the Byzantine style, which indicates the influence of the traditions of Orthodox architecture and gives it a special spiritual depth.
Today, unfortunately, the entrances to the temple are walled up, and trees grow inside, which emphasizes the desolation and oblivion of this place. However, even in this state, the ruins preserve the spirit of history and are a reminder of the rich past of this land.
Despite the lost details, the temple continues to attract attention with its beauty and mystery, remaining an important monument of architecture and history of the Mogilev region.
