Grodno. Sovetskaya Street. The 'Belostok' restaurant.

In Grodno, on Sovetskaya pedestrian street, there is an old building where the 'Belostok' restaurant is currently operating. The stone monument, three-storied, was erected during the time of the Russian Empire in 1897.

On Sobornaya Street, as Sovetskaya Street was called in ancient times, in the 19th century, there were very old wooden houses of Ludezh Sadovsky on this place. According to an 1886 document, these buildings were the cheapest in the entire street at that time.

The stone house was built by the new owner, Leiba Feder, in 1897, and according to other sources in 1901. A 'Commercial' hotel and a restaurant were opened in the building. Alter Hazan's coffee shop started operating in 1907. In 1912, the third floor was added and the hotel had 24 rooms instead of 13.

After the Peace of Riga, it was part of Poland from 1921 to 1939. During the time of the Polish state in the 1920s, the hotel was called "Shopping". The building also housed Rubinstein's photography studio. There was a Pomorsky Bazaar store, which sold cloth and cloth. The owner was Alois Heik.

After the Great Patriotic War, the Belorussia restaurant was opened, and then the dining room. In 1974, the restaurant "Belostok" began its work.
