Grodno. 16 Sovetskaya Street.

In Grodno, at the intersection of Sovetskaya pedestrian street and Naidusa Street (Sovetskaya St., 16), there is a famous architectural monument where the first cinema in Grodno, 'Electro–Biograf', began operating. The two-storey stone building was built during the Russian Empire in 1880.

Originally, there was a palace and a wooden courtyard on this site, which were built during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In 1753, the buildings were destroyed in a fire. In 1880, construction began, which lasted until 1924.

Throughout its history, numerous organizations and institutions have been located in this building: a women's dress workshop, a hardware store, a Kotovsky pastry shop, a Rubinstein photographic studio, a tobacco store, a beer store, and residential apartments.

It was in this building that the first cinema in Grodno "Electro–Biograf", which was opened by Yakov Krivopisko, began its work. Yakov was a local resident. He submitted a petition to the construction department of the Grodno Provincial Government, "I enclose the plans of the premises I hired in Grodno on Sobornaya Street in the Chertok house for the 'Electro–Biograph' theater".

The cinema opened in 1908.

Currently, the 'Milavitsa' store, the 'ABC' shopping center and other institutions are operating in the building.
