Grodno. E. Bergman Vocational School.
In the city of Grodno, on the old Bolshaya Troitskaya Street, there is a large high-rise building of the medical university. The building is located at the turn from Bolshaya Troitskaya Street to Vilenskaya Street.
The house was built in the 1930s during the time of the Polish Republic according to the design of Warsaw architect N. Listitje. The building was created in the constructivist style, which was popular at the time. The researchers note that this house is built in the style of "Empire" constructivism. The building is made of stone, three storeys high. It was known as the Eliezer Bergman Vocational School.
The craft school was founded back in the days of the Russian Empire in 1902. The educational institution was initially located in building No. 57 near the Bolshaya Choral Synagogue on Bolshaya Troitskaya Street.
The school trained mechanics, blacksmiths and locksmiths. In the 1920s– there was a sewing department for girls. About 100 people studied at the school, and M. Gazhansky was the director.
In Soviet times, after the Great Patriotic War, educational institutions also operated: vocational school No. 14, metalworking School, Grodno School No. 7.
Then the building was transferred to Grodno Medical University, which is still located here.
There are two commemorative plaques on the building near the main entrance: to the underground workers A. Rolik and I. Schastny, who studied at the vocational school, and to the Honored Worker of Sciences of the BSSR M. Korablev.
