Opsa. Church of John the Baptist.

The Church of St. John the Baptist was built in Ops around 1500. Unfortunately, it did not last long and in 1768 another church was erected in its place. In 1886, during a fire, this wooden church burned down completely. On the site of the lost church, with the support of Count Felix Plater, the construction of a new church of red brick in the neo-Gothic style began.

In 1928, the church building suffered a fire: the bell tower and roof were damaged. However, it was restored and the church continued to operate until 1949. From 1949 to 1990, the church was used as a warehouse. In 1990, they wanted to place an art gallery and a concert hall here. Believers managed to defend the temple and in 1990 it was returned to the Catholic Church. Through the efforts of parishioners and the church, significant restoration was carried out, thanks to which the temple was restored and services began in it.

Today, the Church of St. John the Baptist is an old, beautiful and majestic church. It is located on a hill, in a picturesque place on the shore of a lake, and looks very impressive. The church in Ops attracts with its interesting stone fence with figured masonry. It seems that there is a medieval castle behind the stone wall. The windows of the church have very beautiful painted stained glass windows with images of saints. There are many places around the church where you can take atmospheric photos.

The temple houses an ancient vessel, carved from a single stone, which is used to store holy water. Ancient icons are also kept here - "The Heart of Jesus", "The Mother of God", "The Holy Family". Unusual painted stained glass windows serve as icons in the temple.

The temple, shrouded in centuries of history, is today revered by a large number of believers, and also amazes many tourists with its beauty.
