Okhovo. Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
In the Pinsk district there is a small town of Okhovo, where the Orthodox Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is located in the local cemetery.
The church was built during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1758. At first, the church belonged to Uniate believers. In 1786, a fire broke out, after which the building was rebuilt and transferred to a Catholic church. The owners here were the Catholic Franciscan Order, which owned this place.
After the partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the town was part of the Pinsk entrance.
After the suppression of the anti-Russian uprising in 1864, the church was transferred to the Orthodox Church and was consecrated as the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
After the signing of the Peace of Riga in 1921, the town came under the rule of the Polish state and the church again passed to the Catholic church.
After the Great Patriotic War, the building was handed over to Orthodox believers.
The church consists of three main parts: the vestibule, the prayer hall and the apse. Above the vestibule is a two-tiered bell tower, which is completed with a dome. A prayer hall of the communal type, to which a five-sided apse is attached. The building is covered with a hip roof. A carved altar from the 18th century has been preserved in the interior.
