Berezovichi. Church of the Intercession.
In the Pinsk district, as you drive along the M10 highway from Brest to Pinsk, there is a place called Berezovichi on the left side. Until 1964, Berezovichi had the historical name Porshevichi.
Porshevichi was first mentioned in 1492 during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. During these times, Princess Maria from the Pinsk Principality presented the place to Furs Ivanovich. Then, in the 16th century, Porshevichi was part of the Pinsk district of the Brest voivodeship. After the second partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1793, as part of the Pinsk entrance.
In the 17th century, a wooden chapel was built at the expense of local noble John Frolevich. During the time of the Russian Empire, in 1878, the temple was rebuilt and significantly expanded, and the church was consecrated in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. The church has been renovated in recent years. The temple is functioning.
The church consists of three main parts: the vestibule, the main volume and the apse. The vestibule is two-tiered with a triangular pediment. The prayer hall is square in plan and is covered by a four-pitched roof. An octagonal drum with a small bulb is installed on the roof. A five-sided apse with two sacristy is attached to the main volume. The facades of the temple are decorated with decorative wood carvings.
