Minsk. Peoples' Friendship Park

It is worth noting that one of the main attractions of the capital is the Peoples' Friendship Park, which was inaugurated in 1978 and has remained unchanged for more than 35 years. The huge territory of the park, covering an area of 70 hectares, is divided by Orlovskaya Street into two parts: southern and northern.

An interesting fact: at the beginning of the last century, there was an extensive swamp on the site where the park is now located. It was here that the Minsk Experimental Bolotnaya Station was founded, the only scientific organization of its kind in the USSR. Belarusians studied land reclamation here and engaged in agricultural farming on reclaimed lands. In 1924, a nursery was established to grow a variety of trees in order to monitor their growth in this specific soil. Many of these trees still decorate the Peoples' Friendship Park, adding a unique historical flavor to it.

In the 1970s, the Minsk Experimental Swamp Laboratory ceased its activities. Initially, it was planned to build a sports complex in its place, then the main enterprise of the Central Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR, but due to financial difficulties it was decided to create a park modeled on the agro—botanical garden. This is how the famous Peoples' Friendship Park in Minsk appeared.

In 2002, the sculptural composition "Belarusian Happiness" was installed in the park, depicting a stork against the background of a horseshoe, which symbolizes peace and good luck. Belarus is known for its cordiality and hospitality, and it is not surprising that the Friendship of Peoples Park in Minsk attracts many foreign tourists seeking to enjoy their holidays in this beautiful city. A visit to this amazing park is included in a variety of sightseeing programs in Minsk, as well as weekend tours throughout the republic.
