Interactive Music Museum: a place where you can touch sounds
A real musical gem is hidden in the very center of Minsk, on Vera Khoruzhey Street. There are no usual museum signs "Do not touch with your hands" and strict silence. On the contrary, guests are invited to listen, explore and play. This interactive music museum is a private project created by amateur musician and IT specialist Maria Bondarenko, who decided to share her passion for music with everyone.
More than a thousand "live" exhibits.
The museum's collection is impressive - it contains more than 1,000 exhibits from all over the world. These are not just tools, but real artifacts from different eras and cultures. In the museum you can see an antique grand piano from 1915, an elegant Celtic harp, harpsichord, double bass, Indian sitar, bassoon and even an electronic organ.
Ethnic and sound-therapeutic instruments are of particular interest: Tibetan singing bowls, Koshi bells, bamboo xylophone from Vietnam, Egyptian tambourine made of giraffe skin, glucophone and "the sound of the sea". There are also amazing things here: a pioneer bugle and a drum, a vintage children's zither, a "quail" psaltery, and even a disassembled piano on which you can study the mechanics of the instrument.
The space is complemented by a collection of miniatures, statuettes, music boxes, tapestries and paintings on a musical theme - more than 300 pieces of art in total, creating a unique atmosphere.
Look, touch, play.
The main rule of the museum is that you can not only look at everything, but also touch it, and even try to play. Visitors can pick up a harp, run a bow across the double bass, extract sounds from singing bowls, try their hand at ukulele or drums. The guide not only tells the stories of the instruments, but also helps to master the basics of the game.
The programs are designed for different audiences. In the "Experimentation" you can find out what the pitch depends on and how to see the sound, and in the "Relaxation" you can enjoy sound therapy. Exciting quests and the program "Coming to Life exhibits: Wonders from around the world" are held for children, and musical evenings and lectures are held for adults. Time flies by unnoticed: the standard program lasts 1.5 hours.
How to find and visit.
The museum is located in the "Silhouette" Business Center at 1A Vera Khoruzhey Street (Yakub Kolas Square metro station). The entrance is not from the side of the shopping center - you need to climb the steps behind the flowerbed in the form of a grand piano and go through the left door to the elevators to the third floor.
