Martian landscapes in Soligorsk.

The Soligorsk landfills are man-made mountains that were formed artificially as a result of the work of the Belaruskali enterprise. This enterprise produces potash mineral fertilizers, the production of which is one of the largest in the world.

During the extraction of potash salt from underground, hills are formed next to the mines, which consist of clay, rock salt, and other impurities. Nearby there are artificial lakes with process water, which is drained here during the extraction of potash salt. The concentration of salt in the water is very high, the color of the water is green-blue and there is a smell of the sea.

The largest salt deposit in Europe was discovered in 1949. The Starobinskoye field has an area of 350 square kilometers. In 1958, the village of Novogorobinsk was founded here, which was later called Soligorsk.

Today, the Soligorsk landscapes are extraordinary and delightful, and the view of them is unusual and fantastically beautiful. It also resembles the Alps or the Caucasus Mountains. It is quite realistic to drive closer to the dumps: literally 50 m from the highway there is an opportunity to examine the landfills better and take unforgettable photos. This is a picturesque place with its own unique atmosphere!

In addition to the landfills, the museum of labor glory "Belaruskali" is an important attraction of the city.  The remains of the oldest animals of our planet are kept here. These are arthropods, which are 350-360 million years old. They lived in the prehistoric sea, on the territory of which the Starobinskoye field appeared. These are very unique and interesting exhibits!

The main expositions of the museum are devoted to the history of the Belaruskali enterprise, its work and achievements.
