Minsk. Church of Mary Magdalene.
Storozhevskoye Cemetery – this place used to be on the outskirts of Minsk, and now it is located in the city center. In 1623, Minsk judge Martin Volodkovich donated the Perespa courtyard to the Petropavlovsky Orthodox Monastery. A wooden church with an almshouse was built at the local cemetery. In 1804, the building was destroyed by fire and the construction of a brick church began with donations from parishioners. The church was built in 1847 and acquired the status of a parish church. There was a school at the church. The cemetery territory was surrounded by a brick fence with a gate.
During the Soviet era, in the 1930s, the Orthodox church was closed and then reopened. It was finally closed in 1937 and a carpentry workshop was set up there. During the war, the church was active. After the war, it was closed again and the archive of film and photo documents of the BSSR was located there.
In 1990, the church was returned to the believers. The restoration was completed. Particles of the relics of St. Mary Magdalene were brought here. In recent years, the area around the church has been significantly improved. The interiors of the church are painted. An architectural monument in the classical style.
