Minsk. National Library

The National Library of Belarus was founded in 1922. Until 2006, it was located in other premises in the center of Minsk. The modern building was erected in 2006 according to the project of the creative team of M. Vinogradov and V. Kramarenko. To date, the National Library is the largest information center in the Republic of Belarus and has more than 10 million books. These are printed books, manuscripts, electronic and other materials in more than 80 languages of the world. The library has a book museum, where you can see ancient manuscripts, rare books that are several centuries old, books with autographs of world-famous figures. You can book a tour in the museum, as well as in the library itself. If you wish, you can also climb to the observation deck, where you will see a unique panorama of Minsk. The square in front of the building is decorated with an unusual monument to the national figure, the first Belarusian printer Frantzisk Skaryna. Francis came from the ancient Belarusian city of Polotsk and in 1517 published the "Bible". The monument was erected in 2006 by the architects A. Kamlyuk and J. Linevich, and the sculptor A. Dranec. The main entrance to the library is made in the form of an open book, the pages of which are written in different languages of the world.
