Grodno. Zamkovaya (Castle) Street. Lapiner's house.

In the city of Grodno, on Zamkovaya Street (bld. № 12), there is an architectural monument called Lapiner's house. The building was built during the Russian Empire in 1880. It has been rebuilt several times during its existence.

Some historians believe that this is the oldest residential building in the city and that the lower tier of the left side of the house was built much earlier during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 15th – 16th centuries. And there is an objective explanation for this: one of the basements is made of large-size brick, which has no analogues anywhere else in Grodno. The walls of the Mir Castle and the towers of the castle in Novogrudok are made of similar bricks.

In 1910, Bazhanov, who was a sworn attorney, had an apartment in Lapiner's house on Zamkovaya Street. The insurance agency of the Russian Insurance Company was located. During the time of the Polish state in 1925, the 'Kaplan, Burde, Shapiro' store operated, where they sold colonial goods.

After the Great Patriotic War, shoe factory No. 2 was located in the building. Then the school of the Federal Law of Shoe Manufacturers worked. There are residential apartments in the building now.
