Grodno. Zamkovaya (Castle) Street. Kharchenko's house.

There is an eclectic architectural monument on Zamkovaya Street (№ 9) in Grodno. The building was erected during the Russian Empire in 1912. It belonged to an official, state councilor Kharchenko.

The building is stone, three-storied, plastered. The front facade is decorated. There are two cast iron balconies in the center of the building. The house was built on part of the foundations of the Masalsky Palace.

In 1877, Moisha Glinfeld, a citizen of Grodno, acquired this land from the city, and two years later built a one-story building with a mezzanine. The house was destroyed by fire in 1895. The vacant plot is acquired by collegiate counselor Ivan Lukich Kharchenko. He built a new stone modern three-storey house with running water, a bathroom with toilet and a water heater. The owner of the house and his wife Alexandra Pavlovna also lived in this building on the third floor in a five-room apartment. And the former owner of the former building, Moisha Glinfeld, and his family began living on the second floor in a four-room apartment.

The first floor was occupied by M. Rutkovsky's grocery store. In 1910, the agency of the Bialystok Mutual Fire Insurance Society was located in the house. The wing attached to the building was adapted for staff and servants: a janitor, a clerk and a cook lived here.

After the Great Patriotic War, since the autumn of 1944, a pharmaceutical and paramedic–obstetric school has been operating in the premises of the building. In the 1970s, the institution "Oblavtotrest" was operating, and then the RUE "Grodnoavtodor".
