Grinevichi Church of the Franciscan Monastery
Previously, the village of Hrynevychi was called Velyka Lapenitsa and belonged to the ancient Oginski family. The most famous of all the owners was Jan Oginski, who took part in various military battles, including the battle with the Turks near Vienna in 1683. And in honor of the victory in this battle, upon returning home, it was he who donated money for the construction of a stone church and Franciscan monastery in Velyka Lapenitsa.
Their construction began in 1690. However, due to the constant military actions in that area, it lasted for 102 years. The construction of the church and monastery was completed in 1792. Already in 1839, the church was transferred to the Orthodox Church, money was allocated for its reconstruction. With the reconstruction of the temple into a church, its baroque architecture acquired elements of ancient Russian architecture. In 1919, when Belarus became part of Poland, the temple again became a church, 20 years later it was transferred to the Orthodox. In the 1960s, the temple was closed, in 1982 it was partially destroyed and rebuilt into a garage for agricultural machinery.
Today, fragments of a stone fence and ruins of a gate, probably built in the same years as the church itself, remain in a dilapidated state.
