Description

There is an unusual palace in the village of Kraski, which is very similar to a medieval castle. The place was owned by various famous noble families of Belarus. Since the 19th century, the owners here have been the Seglitz, who built themselves a new palace with a tower in the Neo-Gothic style.

In Soviet times, there were medical facilities here. The estate gradually fell into disrepair. A few years ago, it was bought by a businessman and is now being restored.

Kraski. The Seglitz estate.

In the Volkovysk district in the town of Kraski there is a manor house that looks like a medieval castle.

In the 18th century, the Kraski belonged to the Sukhodolsky family, in the early 19th century they passed to the Bulgarians. Since the middle of the 19th century, the Seglitz family has become the owners of the estate. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the construction of a two-storey stone palace began. In 1905, a large stone tower with a weather vane was completed on the east side of the building, which bore the date of construction of the palace. At the same time, crenellated parapets were also created, which stylized the palace as a medieval castle.

Historians interpret the style of the palace as Neo-Gothic. Part of the building is wooden, and part is stone. There are more than 20 rooms in the palace. The interior layout is enfiladed.

During the Soviet years, the building housed medical facilities that brought the estate into disrepair. There was a sanatorium and a dispensary.

A few years ago, the estate was bought by a Russian entrepreneur and restoration work began.

The estate is located on the left bank of a small river Zelvyanka on the eastern outskirts of the village. There are outbuildings and a landscape park near the palace. The outbuildings are made of brick and rubble stone.
