Zadvoryane. St. Anne's Church.
The Orthodox Church of St. Anna is located on the southernmost outskirts of the village of Zadvoryane. The temple was built at the end of the 18th century in 1790. The church is made of stone. According to other historical sources, there is information that the church was built in the 1770s at the expense of Mr. Yakim Bulgarin.
Architectural historian A. Kulagin gives evidence that the building was erected in the early 19th century. Engineer and architect Leonard Kryzhanovsky made dimensional drawings of the church in 1877. In 1880, engineer and architect Peter Zolotarev completed the project of rebuilding the church and also designed the iconostasis.
The church was closed during the Soviet Union. In 1972, there was a severe fire in the building. In the early 1990s– fundraising began for the restoration of the Orthodox church. In 1994, the church opened its doors. The first priest in the restored shrine was Vladimir Stetsko.
The church is a monument of architecture in the classical style with Baroque elements. It has a rectangular volume in plan, which is completed by a semicircular apse with a side sacristy. A three-tiered four-sided bell tower is attached to the main facade. The bell tower is covered with a four-sided roof with an octagonal drum and an onion. The second tier of the bell tower was created with a 4-column portico and completed with a triangular pediment.
The territory of the church is surrounded by a stone fence with a gate.
