Porozovo. Holy Trinity Church.
The town of Porozovo has been known since the 15th century and is located on the outskirts of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Since the 16th century, it has had the Magdeburg law. On the coat of arms of the town there was an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is not known exactly when the first Orthodox church was built in Porozovo. There is only information that in the 19th century there was an old wooden church in the village in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In 1858, the issue of building a new church was discussed in the Chamber of State Property.
In 1868, a temporary Orthodox church in honor of St. Nicholas began to operate. At the same time, the construction of a new stone church in honor of the Holy Trinity began, which took 4 years. Funds for the new church were allocated from the treasury and were collected by the parishioners.
The church was built in 1872 in the retrospective Russian style. The building consists of four main parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and an apse. Above the narthex there is a multi-tiered eight-on-four bell tower. A rectangular prayer hall covered with a gable roof with an octagonal drum and an onion. The priest of the church, Julian Shirinsky, was awarded a loincloth in 1880 for his service.
In 1898, a large fire broke out in the new church and the roof and altar were damaged. Grodno Governor-General Prince Svyatopolk-Mirsky donated 100 rubles for the repair of the church. In 1903, after repairs, the church was re-consecrated. In 1905, the altar was rebuilt. In 1905, the church included 25 villages with 3,000 parishioners. There were 4 parochial schools in the parish. In Soviet times, the church worked. In recent years, repairs have been carried out.
