Dzerzhinsk. The settlement of Gashtold Mountain.

Gashtold's mountain dates back to the 16th century. The lands on which the settlement appeared belonged to the Gashtold family, which gave the name to the structure. The settlement also had a second name "Kalvinshchina", since the city of Dzerzhinsk was one of the largest centers of Calvinism.

Gashtold's Mountain is located to the left of St. Anne's Church. On the mountain you can see fragments of the foundation, the fortress wall and the ruins of the cellars of the Calvin Cathedral, which was located here in the period from 1613 to 1621. There is a memorial plaque to this magnificent structure.

Archaeological excavations in the area have revealed the remains of buildings and defensive ramparts. These findings help researchers to better understand the historical fate of the inhabitants of this settlement. Gashtold's Mountain was famous for its battles, in which the Kalvin fortress acted as a defensive structure. The battles of the partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the uprising of Kastus Kalinowski, the battles of the First World War, and battles during the Civil War took place in this area.

Today, Gashtold's mountain attracts the attention of tourists and researchers. This place is not only an archaeological value, but also an excellent platform for studying the history and cultural heritage of Belarus. Local authorities and cultural organizations are actively working to preserve this monument, organizing excursions and educational programs.
