Description

Not far from Minsk, among the picturesque landscapes, there is a small village of Stankovo. This place is imbued with the spirit of antiquity: here you can see the magnificent Grafsky park with more than 500 species of trees and shrubs, a snow-white gazebo by the lake and a unique "tree of love" surrounded by legends. The romantic pavilion "Skarbnitsa" (The treasury), resembling a miniature castle, complements the ensemble. All this once belonged to Count Emerick-Nikolai von Hutten-Chapsky.

The center of the park complex was the church, built in honor of St. Nicholas. It was built in the 19th century on the foundations of two 18th-century churches - a wooden church and the Uniate Peter and Paul Church.
The temple is an architectural monument in the Russian-Byzantine style.

The Church of St. Nicholas in Stankovo is an example of Orthodox architecture in the Byzantine style.

The church in Stankovo is an example of Orthodox architecture in the Byzantine style, designed by the famous architect Konstantin Ton. This is the only church in Belarus built according to his drawings.

At the end of the 19th century, the Stankovo deanery operated at the church, and the first dean was Archpriest Nikolai Truskovsky, who later became an archimandrite and a well-known local historian.

In the 1930s, the temple was closed and its shrines looted. Only the icon of Alexander Nevsky, presented at the consecration, has been preserved.

The church, towering on the riverbank, organically fit into the manor ensemble. The St. Nicholas Church is characterized by the so-called pseudo-Russian style with an abundance of decorative elements. Its architecture combines elements of various styles: arched belts, kokoshniks and keeled cornices. The interior is modest but symbolic, with an onion dome decorated with images of angels.

The church was consecrated in 1858 and served as a center of spiritual life for the surrounding villages.

During the Great Patriotic War, there was a weapons depot in the church building, which exploded due to a shell hit.

During the Soviet years, the temple was closed, its property was looted, and the building was used as a granary. There was a fire here in the 1960s.

In 1997, the parish resumed its activities. In 2007, restoration work was carried out here.

Today it is a beautiful restored temple located on the shore of a beautiful lake. An interesting architectural monument with its own history, which must be visited.
